Tech Prep: Connecting Activities

Matching Students to Work-Based Learning
Students will be matched to work-based learning experiences according to their interest and ability. The use of career interest surveys and aptitude tests and the evaluation of a student’s academic skills will create a profile for career exploration.

School Site Mentors As Liaison
School staff will be trained to act as mentors for students involved in
Tech Prep programs. School site mentors are a combination of
teacher, counselor, and advisor for students to make the transition
from school-to-work.

Training Will Be Provided For Workplace Mentors
Members of the business and industry community that are acting as
workplace mentors will be trained to work with students. The goal of this activity is to insure success for both the student and the business partner. This program recognizes the differences between school and the workplace, and the transition will be as smooth as possible.

Follow-up Studies For Program Completers
Those students who complete a Tech Prep program will be contacted and their progress will be reviewed. Tech Prep is a living program that is designed to meet the needs of those who will enter the workforce. Because every student will enter the workforce, a continuous evaluation of the program is a required element.

It's a partnership! It's a community-based system! It's an opportunity!
