Tech
Prep: Three Components
Tech
Prep
is
More Than a Program... It
is a Cultural Change.
Tech
Prep
is an integrated system that achieves new outcomes through three core components:
- School-based
Learning
To enhance learners knowledge of traditional subjects and
provide them with opportunities to apply what they learn across disciplines.
- Work-based
Learning
To extend academics into the workplace by providing career
preparation and direct work experience, bringing labor and
employers into schools to help integrate workplace skills and
competencies into the curriculum.
- Connecting
Activities
To involve the private sector, civic leaders, learners and parents in the
development and delivery of approaches and programs that respond to the
specific workforce needs of their communities. By combining strong academics
with applied learning, offering real-world experience and bringing together
education, business and community in productive partnerships, Tech Prep
represents an energetic new approach to career bound education-- and acts
now to provide Illinois with the 21st century workforce needed for future
success.

It's a partnership! It's a community-based system! It's an opportunity!
